New York, NY – Askeladden L.L.C. has petitioned for inter partes review (IPR) of U.S. Patent No. 7,480,637, entitled “Internet Transaction Authentication Apparatus, Method, and System for Improving Security of Internet Transactions.”

The IPR petitions, filed at the direction of Askeladden’s Patent Challenge Committee, outline how the claims of the ’637 patent are rendered obvious by prior art references, including U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2004/0123113 (“Mathiassen”) and others.

The challenged patent, assigned to Jabaa, L.L.C., has been asserted in numerous patent infringement lawsuits against various companies. Sean Reilly, General Counsel for Askeladden, stated: “We believe that the claims of the ’637 patent are unpatentable and should never have been issued. Our IPR petitions provide a thorough analysis of how the prior art demonstrates the invalidity of these claims.”

Askeladden is represented by Haynes and Boone, LLP in the IPR proceedings.
